Welcome to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home

Edo Miller purchased a furniture store in Brunswick in 1909, and began having funerals from the store at that time. In 1911, he attended mortuary college and formally established Edo Miller Funeral Home in 1912. It was located at 1626 Newcastle Street, across the street from the Oglethorpe Hotel. He also provided ambulance service to Brunswick and the surrounding areas.

In 1951, the funeral home moved to a large southern home at 1107 Gloucester Street known as Gray Gables. Edo didn’t enjoy his new building long; he had a fatal heart attack on April 26, 1952 at the age of 72. The Miller family continued to operate the funeral home, and in 1956, “and Sons” was added to the name. That same year, Arlie McNeill joined the firm part time, and in 1960, Johnny Wilson joined the firm full time. The sons, Blanton and Connie Miller both died in 1960 and Jimmy Miller died in 1964. In 1966, the ambulance service was discontinued. Later, Johnny and Arlie became sole owners.
